General Note

Apgar put together this handbook for her medical students and anesthesiology residents at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, in the absence of an adequate anesthesia textbook. It provided a concise outline of techniques and anesthetic agents used at the hospital during the 1940s, along with possible complications of anesthesia, and the hazards of explosion in the operating room.
