Scope and Contents
Chiefly diaries of Priscilla Shumway Scott describing social life and activities as a student at Mount Holyoke College, courtship and marriage, married life and family affairs. Also includes a small collection of diaries, correspondence and other papers, 1908-1960, of her husband Harry Fisher Scott; 1869 diary of her mother, Louise Richards Shumway; diaries of her sister Sara Shumway Sibley, 1931-1938; and numerous family photographs, ca. 1905-1955.

Biographical Note
Louise M. Richards was born on April 21, 1838. In 1859 she married Austin L. Shumway. They had nine children, including Sara Shumway Sibley and Priscilla Shumway Scott. Louise Shumway died on October 15, 1922. Priscilla Shumway was born on June 24, 1881 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1906, and married Harry Fisher Scott on June 15, 1910. Harry Scott died in 1960, and Priscilla Shumway Scott died in 1962.

Scott-Shumway-Sibley family. Austin L. Shumway and Louise Richard Shumway, 1838-1922. Papers consist of diaries written by their daughter, Priscilla Shumway Scott, 1881-1962, primarily describing her social and academic activities at Mount Holyoke. Also containing a small collection of diaries and correspondence between her mother Louise Richards Shumway, husband Harry Fisher Scott, d. 1960, and sister Sara Shumway Sibley.
