Scope and Contents

The Dorothy Ada Snow Papers include travel diaries and itineraries, correspondence, and photo albums. Snow was employed at Mount Holyoke College from 1940 until her retirement in 1977. Four brief travel diaries and two itineraries record Snow's travels to Great Britain and Ireland in 1963 and 1965. The diaries contain discussions of meals, lodgings, fellow travellers, and the sights. Other materials include the cards, notes, and letters which Snow recieved upon her retirement. Two photograph albums in the collection also relate to Snow's retirement. One album includes photos of friends and coworkers, identifing captions accompany all of the photos.

Biographical Note

Dorothy Ada Snow was born January 10, 1912 in Keene, New Hampshire. She recieved her A.B. from University of New Hampshire in 1933 and attended Northampton Commercial College in 1939-1940. Snow was employed at Mount Holyoke College from 1940 until her retirement in 1977. Snow held three positions during her time at Mount Holyoke: secretary in the Department of Academic Administration, Secretary to the Academic Dean, and Executive Secretary to the Academic Dean. Dorothy Snow died on July 10, 1997.
