Historical Note
Reach for the Future was a program sponsored by Mount Holyoke and Hampshire Colleges in cooperation with Springfield (Massachusetts) Public Schools, and by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's Program in Excellence. The program involved spring, summer and fall sessions designed to promote strategies for hands-on learning and to develop skills to aid at-risk middle-school students. Enrollment was limited to teachers in Springfield District Schools.
