Historical Note

Winter Term began at Mount Holyoke College in 1972 as an interlude between academic semesters. Some courses may be taken for credit during this period, however, the main purpose of Winter Term is to give faculty and students the opportunity to explore nontraditional modes of study and to take courses which do not fit into the semester system. Students may also choose to pursue an independent study project for January.
