Illustrated Version of the New College Plan
Content Description
The New College Plan: A Proposal for a Major Departure in Higher Education was first published in 1958. Written under the direction of the Presidents of Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts, it was the original blueprint for what would become Hampshire College. This collection comprises one comb-bound, hand-assembled, illustrated volume of The New College Plan, assumed to be created by Shannon McCune, Chairman of the Committee for an Experimental College. The volume consists of baby photos beside clippings from The New College Plan. It is signed to "Joe" (Cesar L. Barber) from "Shannon": "With happy memories of times well spent - A Very Merry Christmas."
